A quick shot around dusk, I need some of that faster L glass . . . LOL. I got a few good shots, but a little dark perhaps, enjoy nonetheless.

Well,.....
This is just fantastic! A pefect shot of a 12 point buck! (they don't call them that if there elk do they? )
Stunning photo...
Just don't let this guy get into IanD's neck of the woods.. he wouldn't want to have to deal with that kind of competition for the ladies ;)

Steve (RockOne),
it is something like the painting alright
although the photograph is more 'real' looking
there was an hour long thingy on bbc tv every sunday night
with the title 'monarch of the glen'
(scottish)
with beautiful scenery in it... of course

The painting brought to life :-). I only know about it because on an episode of "The Goodies", Bill Odiie describes it as a cow on a hill with sticks on its head :-) :-). Its amazing what you remember at times.
The TV show was on here too, but didn't manage to catch it. Might have to wait to see if they repeat it.

Wow, great shot! Umm, how do you keep your hands warm while shooting in all that snow? People around here (Phoenix, AZ) think it's cold when the temp goes below 70°F.

LOL, regarding the cold, one could suppose it is like you withstanding the heat of your summer . . . you just get used to it.I have gloves with the 'triger' finger exposed, lol. As to the question on the status of said Elk in the wild, those whom do not know I live near a Elk winter refuge, should. In the winter they are less wary of man here and have learned to accept even the horse pulled sleigh rides the Hardware Ranch provides each year. There are many shots from this 'find' that I hope to be able to share at some point. I am using a borrowed Sigma Big Moma at the momment. Until I figure out what Canon glass to buy.
Thank you so much one and all for the kind words. I have found the board to be a wonderful resource and a residence of some very nice folks. <Tip 'O The Hat>
