I only got 3 shots of this one in our back garden this morning - it buzzed me  - so I ran

Mind you, it did me a favour, cos as I ran away (what a whimp lol ) summink flew past my ear, I looked up and it was a lovely Migrant Hawker DF :D - pics to follow later.

Anyway back to the fearless fly

Nice pictures Linda - don't really think you needed to run as these aren't particularly harmful to humans - despite their looks - although its not all bad if you got the DF into the bargain:)

Thanks Dave - yes, I know they dont bite or anything like that, but it sure makes you jump because they dont half go for you lol - and they go straight for your face. Its the second time one has done that to me lol.

Oh yes, I wouldnt have missed the DF for the world, she was a real cutie.

they normally land on my camera or hand and sit there quite contentedly - I rather like them though if they flew at my face I would react like you!

Thanks Brian - it was my husband that spotted it, we (well he did and told me lol) had just found a different hover, one of the volucellini and I was photographing that, he stepped by me and made the hover go  and as I was looking around for it, he spotted this Robber (so that got him out of trouble lol).

Thats a shame, there is never a shortage of any flies in the UK
