Wish me luck. I'm going out for a first pass with the snowblower.

If I'm not back online in 2 hours call out the dogs.

OK, if anyone really cared about me you'd talk me out of it.

No, do it. Go!

I was out this morning trying to shovel 13 inches of snow off my drive way. Fortunately, 3 young entrepreneurs came walking by asking if I needed help. They were asking for $10.00 each. I said "too much" and talked them down to $20.00 for the whole double car driveway, sidewalk and the walkway to the house and I didn't care how many of them did it. I gave them an extra $4.00 tip for a job well done. :)

So, did I get taken or did I get a good deal?

Wait, no! Don't do it. Think of your ticker and all that strain you're going to put on it with all that shovelling.

Darn, too late. He's gone. I better call the Boston Emergency Squad and tell them to be on standby, just in case.

You got taken. Ma Nature would've melted it for free if you were willing to wait. When we lived in King Of Prussia, anything more than 6" caused a general paralysis of the whole area. I can't imagine 13".......

6 inches, only? Pooh! That's nothing! Even 13 inches isn't really much compared to 24" we had a couple of years ago! Back then, we had a mountain of snow beside our driveway higher than my head (and no short people jokes, please!).

Here, this is what 13 inches looks like after it's been shovelled:

[Edit: OK, looks like we actually had less than 8 inches over here. What I had in my driveway was actually the build up from snow drifts due to the strong winds. But, hey, 13 inches is 13 incehs, whether it fell from the sky or was blown in by the wind. :mrgreen: }

As long as you dn't start seeing black you'll be OK (and I'm not talking about black top, either). Just hang in there, buddy. It'll be over before you know it....one way or the other.

Wow - after all those pictures, I miss living in Cleveland. I'd love to go up there and just look at the snow for a minute or two.

Odd thing is that they're so used to it there, people rarely disrupt their routine except for the short time it takes to shovel or snowblow the driveway. Great time for neighbors to get out and talk though.

Wow - after seeing Scott's front yard and all that snow, all I can say is I'm glad I live down here and not up there. We haven't had snow that high since 4 or 5 years ago, I think.

Holy snow flakes Batmn, that there is some serious snow Scott. You have more than we do up here!
I had to sweep about 1/2 inch off the Az this morning before I went out. Damn cold though.
Glad that this was not the GCPS weekend.

I'm back. Done for now, though the wind's still blowing enough to require a clean-up in the morning.

As for snowfall, the local emergency chapter thinks this might be THE record-breaking snowfall for the Boston area since 1892. I have to watch the news to get some updates, but there's no doubt that I got at least 29" in my driveway. In about 18 or 19 hours, too.

I, for one, am relieved that you are safely back in the confines of your house. I know some certain person(s) wished you had to stay out later.

That's a whole lot of snow and better you than us.

Now who would that be?

Scottes

Yep, I made it.

Official number for my home town was 26" so maybe I measured a bit of a drift. It is kinda hard to tell - I've got spots in my yard with 4" and other spots with at least 48".

At least I don't need a bigger snowblower for another 27 years.

What the sky giveth, the wind taketh away and puteth(?) elsewhere.

So, 48 + 4 = 52.

52 / 2 = 26.

Yup, 26 must be the official figure.

It's good to see that you are back and safe in side. If you did make it back, I was going to have first dibs on your message count.

that amount of snow is amazing. Sometimes I wish that we had snow like that at least once. but the closest thing that I get is frost on the windows.

If I had that much snow I think I'd trade that tiny snow blower in for John Deere! A big one. Could plow a few neighbors driveways and help pay for it :)

I sure miss my International tractor!!

Not enough snow here to talk about...My big mouth, now we will get that once every five year 18" job that cripples Va.

<<Canuck is scratching his head wondering where the winter went to up here???>> Althought the local airport reported -8 and it was about 10 deg colder where I work w/ a 20+ MPH wind to boot. Today it was up to 34 deg! I'd like to see some snow again. We currently have less than 6" here in this part of the Great Land.

Our local evening newspaper here in the UK said we were going to get the snow that the US is now experiencing. Well, I blame Scottes. All he has done with that darn snow blower is shove it back up in the atmosphere so the winds can blow it across the Atlantic to land on my driveway. :)

I have missed every major snow storm the last 3 years. I live just south of Boston. What is funny for me is I am in the Meditrainian right now. 65 or so every day. And my girl is back in Boston with 30"s of snow and I guess 8 - 10 more comming this morning.

You can say I am keeping pretty quiet on the warm weather here right now.

Come on over. I got home at 9:30 last night to another 8 inches. 37 inches in 2 storms in 4 days.

My old home town - 13 miles away - got hit with 52 inches in these two storms. They are BURIED in the white stuff.

Send Scott a self-addressed envelope. I'm sure he'll be happy to send you some of his snow to last you until your next snow fall.

I think a self-addressed, stamped dump truck might be a better choice. :)
