This is my first attempt at posting an image...taken with a (sorry!) Fuji S5000, while waiting for my 20D plus Sigma 18-125 etc to arrive. Time sure drags here in South Africa.
Merlin is an 8 week old Australian Bearded Dragon (Pogona Vitticeps for the zoologists amongst us). He, too, cannot wait for a decent camera to exploit his good looks.
Blame the lack of creativity on the camera...!

Brian
Still a traitor for now

Good shot, actually. How big will this cute fellow grow to? I can see his beard, but why "dragon"?

This is a very good shot. No complaints here.

It's always the photographer's fault!

Why is it called "dragon"? I can't tell you - the Australians from whence it comes are responsible for the name! (Mind you, the USA breeders popularised them for the for the commercial market.)
Merlin will grow to 18 to 22 inches, and has a life expectancy of up 10 years. Wonderful animals- they are quite tame and will interact with their human pets.
Thanks for the comments.

"Dragon" is the name given to lizards of the family Agamidae. This family can be found in Africa, Asia, Australia, and southern Europe.

Very nice picture too. If you come across them in the wild you can get right up close to them because they 'freeze' like you can't see them. Makes for great photo oportunities :-)
