Wow, great shots for a first time.
I would try to move in a bit on 1 so you can see his face....
For 2, it looks pretty good. Maybe get the truck out of the BG...

agreed, for first shots, not bad.
#1 is solid although you'd have a much more dunamic shot if you had been below to coping. exposure looks nice and timing is quite good. some fill flash would relly give some zing.
#2 does nothing for me. no face (and unless the action is off the charts, I'd say you'd need it), and are way too far away to get much impact. Exposure looks decent but at that time of day it was shot, you have some severe shadowing that detracts from the rider. background is less than desirable as well but that would be fixed somewhat by shooting tighter. flash is definitely your friend here.
hope you see that I'm trying to offer some useful crit , not just bash you... keep up the good efforts and feel free to pm me if you want deeper crit or have questions.

Thanx for the crit, its very useful.
Just thought I'd let u know that its a girl rider too.
I was attempting to use some fill flash on the first one but as it was my first time using flash i dont think i quiet pulled it off, it still has more detail than the ones that i didnt use flash for. Also, im not trying to make excuses, but i'm actually in a wheelchair so getting different angles is a little hard sometimes.
I agree that the second one would've been much better without the truck there, i was trying to use the quater as a line leading your eye to the rider and the truck is a definate distraction.
once again, thanx for the crit.. ill take it onboard

Well let us know your in a wheel chair first! That defiantly is a valid excuse. I dont even wanna know how you got that first angle....
She has some serious skill! Have you ever tried off camera flash?

Nay, with your situation, I think you should definitely look into off camera flash. That would allow you to light different things without actually having to position yourself there. You can have one of your buds position the flash guns for you while you take settings and bingo! I do agree with Pro, how'd you knock down that first one without dropping in yourself? Props! Talk about dropping in and some seriosu inspiration to anyone who's spent any time in a skatepark... check it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=91DAhnTZ4ig
BTW, girls got skills for sure. Guess I didn't look close enough first time through as the ummm, chest shoulda tipped me off that it wasn't a dude. Props to her as well (for the riding of course!)

Yeah same haha. I just thought that was air or the shirt was too big or something.

I'd love to try some off camera flash stuff but im a bit on the poor side.
that first shot was a litlle tricky to get but its kind of deceving because it goes to a smaller quater thats raised up so it uses the same coping so i was able to lean over to get the pic.
oh and there's no way im gonna drop in like that kid and do a backie! I used to ride b4 i ended up in a chair but its totally different, things look twice as big now

if your a bit on the poor side grab another buddy and have him hold a reflector or if you have a pc outlet grab a 10m pc sync cord and do it that way lots of ghetto ways to get the effect of good equipment. also get creative, think of shots that no one has done, dont be scared to get crashed into i remember my buddy was getting really close to a rail while we were snowboarding and i caught the end of his fish eye.
