under exposed shots

I just purchased the S40 and I am having trouble with exposures showing up on the display ok, but when I upload to my computer, the images are too dark. Any suggestions?

You might want to do some colour profiling on your monitor. If you have a colour printer, print off some shots and see how close they are to the monitor, adjust your monitor/video card brightness/colour profile to match the printer. Chances are the monitor is too dark if they look fine on the camera and horribly underexposed on your monitor.

Try opening the image using friend's monitor. The problem may be wrong brightness/ contrast setting of your monitor. Some old monitor will display image either too bright or too dark.
