Dear ****** and **** Studios,

My name is Mark *******, and I am currently seeking an unpaid internship at a photography studio where I may be able to acquire some basic knowledge of the field of photography. My goal in doing so is to be able to expand my personal resume, and to eventually be able to apply for a job as a photographer's assistant. Also, I plan on purchasing a Canon EOS 40D soon, and I would like to be able to attain knowledge of how to use it well. I have my own means of transportation, and one year of photography class which gives me some basic knowledge of the subject already.I currently work part-time at ******, however I would be more than willing to use my days off (tuesday and wednesday) for an internship, as well as the hours which I do not work on my work days. I do leave for school around the 20th of september, and I realize that this is not a long period of time to assist, however any time/knowledge I could get would be much appreciated. Thank you for your time.

Well, first, make sure you are sending a reply to only one company at a time. Two, I suggest typing "cover letter mit" into google and following the format there. This current letter just seems too much like a complaint about how you don't have a photo internship and have no time either. Worry about time and payment after you are accepted for the job, you don't NEED to accept their offer if it doesn't work out for you.

To the first part, its one studio. For example Johnson and Johnson Studios. It's not to multiple studios.

As for the next part, do you mean that i shouldnt let them know any specifics about my limitations? It seems to me that it would be more professional to let them know what days i would be available for work, since i am the one seeking the internship

I'd take out "Also, I plan on purchasing a Canon EOS 40D soon, and I would like to be able to attain knowledge of how to use it well." as it makes you look like you just want to learn how to take pics for yourself. With limited time it might be harder to find somewhere, but having an extra person around is always handy, and you'll learn a lot.

thanks for the input, it will be removed. I appreciate the input, is there anything else one would want to know of someone who was going to put in an application?
