I wonder why such a focus of the article on ridding the use of AA batteries. Not all AA batteries are alkaline or carbon-zinc. Some are made of rechargeable materials.

And not all Canon components use AA batteries. Which is why we have rechargeable batteries for the cameras!

Other questions to be raised: What kind of fuel cell are they going to deploy? Do we have to go to a special facility to get the cell recharged? Or do we just go out and buy more cells to replace spent cells?

Seems like a lot of huff and no analysis.

Another thought, what if you're out on a shoot and your fuel cell runs out? Is there some way to refill it in the field? Can you pull out the empty one and slap in a full one?

Fuel Cell - No, this is just a very silly rumor. If canon had a working prototype ready for production, they would use every other division to sell in every market, mobile, computing, etc. Cameras would come later on.

To get an idea, wikipedia Fuel Cell, and the process used to create energy with Hydrogen as a source.

About the Avatar, I can't stant Paul Sr. He is an obnoxious sob, I am not sure why his son does not kick his arse. I used to watch the show for a while, the other kid, that never works on bikes, is a riot.
