So i was told someone was looking for a sports photog in my area. What would be better? should I just gather some of my sports shots from my school paper which I have shot for or gather some of my best images from my flickr and print to 5x7 and put them in a booklet to show?
what would you suggest? maybe a collaboration of both? Thanks for any and all input.
btw, recent graduate, photographed for paper for 3 semesters, last semester I concentrated on portfolio so didn't shoot much sports at the time.

I'd put together a nice and cozy portfolio with your best shots, not just any published ones you recently had in the papers.
You can always tell them you've been published and have newspaper experience, just show them your best work when applying for the job.

I would suggest much larger than 5X7 and put together your best portfolio shots to wow them. Most importantly, be ready with a porposal. What are you going to offer for packages, prints, extras etc...
Cheers,

11 x14 is a great size for portfolio shots.
If you want to check out a pro photographers portfolio book I suggest you have a look at http://aphotoeditor.com/2008/08/07/chris-mcpherson-stopped-by-to-show-his-portfolio/
You might pick up a few ideas.

I'd say show no more than 20-25 of your very best photos, printed in a variety of sizes, or all one size, B&W and color, whichever you like better and feel is most appropriate for the potential employer, presented in a professional looking package along with your resume and letter of intro.
