why is canon much more strict than nikon when it comes to leaking info about new cameras? Nikon had leaked the pictures and specs of the d700 long before the announcement. Now there is a picture of a d90 on nikonrumors and I`m 100% sure that leaked picture is real. Is canon trying to freak us out?

Canon has been traditionally tight-lipped and conservative, if anything, understating. They don't telegraph their shots, and generally keep what they promise. One could take it as a wise strategy. Don't shoot 'til you see the whites of their eyes, and rampant, wild speculation is free advertising. :D

Nikon HAS to leak info to keep their buyers from going to canon.. seriously, canon doesnt need to leak anything, a canon user is a pretty sure bet that he isnt gonna stray and buy a noink!

Because it seems they know that people will keep guessing, keeping people interesting and watch the rumours that arise. using it for future products or just proving to the world that they can keep people guessing till the end of time. Like this "new" 5D and the mass amount of current rumours, it could NEVER come out and people would keep guessing about specs week after week.
Im sure someone in Canon is laughing.

There's a lot of similarities in the way Apple work too.

Does this statement say more about you or Canon?
