I know I am one of the few, if not the only, concert shooters here that do Latin headliners. We have a large Latin community and the casino enjoys their significant participation and the support of the numerous Latin media outlets. Juan Luis Guerra (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Juan_Luis_Guerra), like most of the performers I shoot, was totally unknown to me prior to this concert. But, the house was packed and not a word of English was spoken!

I like the close shots you've posted here.
Of the stage overviews, I like #14 in the gallery better then those here.
(Partly because there are less heads behind mics, partly because of the light)

But what about my blues? :-) BTW, they still don't have LR2 in the bookstore here at the University but I'll let you know when I pick it up.

Theyve got some colorful backdrops going there! Love how in number two the subject splits the blue and purple in the back. I'm not familiar with the artist either...you're always educating us Dwight. =]

Nothing wrong with the blues...
And I don't want to sound like a broken record ;)

I'm just jerking your chain ... I know exactly what you mean, how you mean it, and where you're coming from ... and I almost always agree with you as well as take all your advice very seriously (even though I kid about it!) But somebody's got to sound like they're challenging you from time to time so these kids don't think you're infallible and may be the next Pope!

BTW, I'm likely coming to Holland next year with my family to visit Frank Doorhof (now that I can tell Holland from Denmark) ... how easy is it to get to where you are from there? We're likely to go to France and Germany (one day each) and maybe the UK and we're very time constrained but I thought I would ask.

Yup, we'll talk when I know more in a few months. :-)

What do you want Dwight, you have nothing left to prove. We get it--you are good.
Great set as usual....

I really like the first close-up, that's a wonderful pic!

(hey when you come to visit René, make sure there's something to do @ Atak, I think both René and I would love to take photos on the same concert with the 3 of us ;) )

A lot of the larger names bring their own electronic billboard with them. They are very pricey and at least one was rumored to be worth $1 million. Some are bigger and finer meshed than others. Most (as did this one) will connect to the video system and they have a lot of talent (as do we) and experience mixing their pre-recorded stuff with the live feed. Since I use spot metering on the performer I usually don't have any trouble with it lighting wise and sometimes, as with a few of these, it is a nice enhancement.

As I am sure you know, there are always new things to learn, new things to try, and new equipment to explore. If there's ever nothing new left for me to screw up then I'm done. Rene can attest to my less than perfect record ... he's truly been my biggest critic and thereby done the most to improve my images.

Thank you. Juan has the habit of singing a phrase and turning his head to the right and looking somewhat down, then back for the next phrase. This is what was happening when I got that capture (and many others.)

I expect to visit Jason Cole (glamor photographer and POTNer) for a week in Australia in April/May of next year. Hopefully, Richard (Blackshadow) and a few other Aussies will want to throw a rib on the barbee while I'm there. Then Marna, Anna and I hope to visit with Frank Doorhof (fashion photographer and POTNer) in the Netherlands, probably in June. Visiting/shooting with you guys will be very high on my list of things to do ... maybe even Frank will come. Both trips will be business for me, learning Jason's glamor techniques and Frank's fashion techniques and hopefully spending a bit of time with Rene both shooting and post processing. My photography business will be sending me so I can write it off my taxes ... Marna and Anna will have to pay for themselves. [I am kidding about the girls, of course.] I hope you will have red hair when we come.

Rene, the book store finally had LR2 so it is sitting on a chair in my photography office and I will install it when I get back from a short week truck camping trip with my family that starts today.

I almost always dye my hair red, so you're lucky ;)
