Lovely shot, but a bit too much blur in my opinion. Take down the blur a bit and it won't be as distracting. Great shot though!

Yes, it's an image to treasure, for sure. I agree with the blur comments and it is definitely worth working on. I would reduce the blur overall a bit and lasso the eyes and sharpen them some but not too much. Give it a go and post the results.

If I'm not mistaken the eyes should remain sharper than the rest of image to maximize the effect. I also would suggest getting rid of the redness in the eyes
