here is what i would love to see in a body
-Body of the 40D w/grip but all integrated like a 1Series
-30 focus points with center cross and diagonal like the 40D and rest are 5.6 and faster cross..15 Selectable and 15 are assist.
-ISO 3200 with 6400 expandable(clean)
-1.6x crop with 12MP for 3D and FF 16MP for 2D
-3" VGA LCD, live view with contrast detection AF
-7-7.5fps 90jpg 25 raw 3D, 2D 5fps 90 jpg 20 raw
-63 area metering like 1 Series
-14 Bit
-Micro Adjustment
No dial on top..Same type of setup as the 1D..press the Buttons to access the shooting mode.

Price around $1800-2000 FOR 3D and $3000-3300 for 2D

Sounds good to me. The only thing I would like to have in addition on your "2D" would be dual CF slots. As always, I would love to have sensor IS in addition to lens IS, but I don't think it'll happen anytime soon.

Yes. I want this!!! Digital 1V please. I always imagined the 3D to be almost a standard body 1Ds.

I'm hoping for that slight chance the 5D2 will have this triangle button configuration. If so I am sold immediately on this feature alone.

easy...do a search for 'canon eos 5d body' in ebay during the time of photokina and you'd be UNLUCKY to get one for OVER $1,000.

or if they made a new (whatever)D that was the standard type of body..I WISH they could make a grip for it like the old EOS 3. Couldnt even tell the grip was added. unlike the current grips all look like the camera is just sitting on a block of plastic

I just want a 5d MKII (or whatever naming scheme) with an 1v body, 1v af, 4-6 fps, relatively clean iso 6400 and 14-18 mp.

Is that too much to ask for? :P

I'll take just the 1v body for starters. The guts of the camera can remain a 5D for all I care.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who wants a digital 1V.

I think your camera specs are actually very reasonable. I also think Canon could probably fit one more (full frame non-pro body) model release in before introducing our '3D'.

I just don't think there would be a 1.6 crop, that's what the new 50D should take care of.

I'd just like weathersealing, at least 5fps, ISO 6400, and good AF. Micro adjustment should be an absolute must also!
