Found this robber fly flitting around in the grass late today. So I did the belly crawl chasing it around for a while. For some reason my photos don't retain the EXIF data. Both shots taken with Canon 100mm lense, 1.4X TC, Manual mode, 1/250, f8, ISO 1000, on camera pop-up flash with puffer diffuser, flash set to -2EV.

Not bad pics - I think I would have increased your FEC a little bit as the fly is a little on the dark side, but of course you could alter that in processing.
You can get pretty detailed shots of these Robber flies with just the 100mm without a TC - try it next time and see.
Oh and you might be losing your Exif if you are doing 'Save for Web' when you save your file to upload, dont use that, just resize and save before uploading - but always use a COPY of the original
