This was a shot taken using a 18-55mm Non-IS lens, hand held (not attached to the camera). This guy was hanging out on our back porch for nearly a week, then one day he vanished. I've no idea of the species - any help would be appreciated.

Lovely capture- suspect it's a cricket (katydid). Shows what you can do with a simple reversed lens.

What doe sit mean, reverse lens? Did you attatch it somehow, backwards? And use as a super macro? ???

The technique consists of taking a regular lens (I used an 18-55mm zoom) off of its mount, turning it around, and using it as a macro lens. Read this (http://dptnt.com/2007/10/reversed-lens-macro-photography/).
