Hello

Quick question -- what is the standard deadline for senior portraits. When do the kids need to have them "turned in"?

Thanks!

Are you talking about yearbook photos? It probably varies by school district.

Yes -- was just curious of when some folks are due. I need to have some idea tonight for something that I am working on.

You have to ask the person you are shooting. In MI every district is different. There are also different rules as to how it gets turned in. IE: a print or a file on disk. Most now want a file on disk I re-size it so not even a 4x6 can be printed off from it then put it on disk.

Gotchya.

What I am looking for is just a general idea. For instance, in your area, are they general due september, november, january, etc? Just a generalized idea.

A little North of you but our schools do pics 2 times a year one in early fall and a reshoot in Feb and yearbook is out in May, I would think to be safe I would shoot for Jan/Feb but this is based on what I have seen with my kids, not shooting for the yearbook.

The school districts I have shot for have varied greatly. Most of the schools in the Denver Metro Area require they are turned in by the middle of September. In the rural area I'm in now the school districts don't require them until January. You better check with the district you're talking about.

My deal is this. I have been talking to a group of parents about doing their daughters shots. They have some concern about my inexperience, so I made them a money back offer. They wanted to be sure they had time to reshoot if I suck, but no one knew when they had to be in. I assumed it would be sometime in the next few weeks.

BTW -- I don't plan on sucking!

Where I live in Georgia, if the photographer that is hired by the school has to take your picture or you don't a picture in the yearbook.

Let me correct my last post - the photographer that is hired by the school has to take your picture for it to be in the yearbook.

Call their High School, they should have that info along with the format and pixel dimensions they need.

Same here in South Arkansas and most of the parents and students hate it. All cookie cutter images for the YB.
