What you guys think? I'm a bit dissappointed by how much shadow I got in his eyes but I wasn't allowed to use a flash. Apparently Frillneck Lizards are a tad jumpy
I've changed the levels in PS but there is no cropping or anything else done to it.

Nice pic. Looks good for no-flash.
Do you know what type of lizard it is? It doesn't look like the frilled lizards of northern Australia (Chlamydosaurus kingii)

Thanks Rockone
Um... All I know is that it is a Frill Neck. The folds of skin you can see down the back of his neck is his frill. I have no idea what part of Australia he is from but he was a very good, still and patient photography model :D

Looks a bit out of focus to me.

Ok. Does anyone else think it looks out of focus??? I can't see that it does

Looks Ok to me. There is a shallow DOF, and where his head thickens out it just nudges slightly out of focus, which gives it a 3D look. The face looks Ok though.
Re sitting still - a lot of lizards seem to do that, if only other animals and especially birds would be as co-operative :-)

Ok, this area here does not look out of focus to you? I would be interested in seeing a 100% crop. I would bet it is just thaaaaaaaat much out of focus.
Just an FYI - as a general rule, you don't want the forground (the area closest to the camera) to be out of focus. Now that rule is not hard and fast, and there are pleanty of reasons why you would break it - but this is not one.

given the choice to have the eye or the cheek in focus, i think bennyboy made the right choice to focus on the eye.
looks great ... wonder how a 90-degree clockwise rotation would change the feel of the shot.

I definitely see your point about his cheek\neck there Radtech but I'm consentrating on his face... Now that you have pointed it out I can't help but see his out of focus cheek  Oh well.. This is what the critique corner is for :) . Cheers for your input.
Thanks for all your comments people and I will definitely try the 90% rotation you mentioned Endsarkiss :D
