uh...security!? - someone has stolen Gu's noise... it's just not showing up in his indoor sports shots. now don't panic, i'm sure we'll all chip in and donate a bit

awesome shots!

Nice b-ball shooting Gu - and rest assured I know how tough it is! All good shots - no.6 is the peachiest I feel - although a couple look as if the autofocus has picked up the players in the background... are you using all the AF points or a manually selected one? And what's your set-up for CF-17?

Hehehe, it's all due to 1D MK II's magic with noise, all shot at ISO1600, between F1.8 - F2.5, 1/400, can't really complain :D

No noise removal whatsoever, slight sharpening applied, love this camera, now I want a second one! ;)

don't we all... don't we all.

that's with the 85 1.8, yes? i've had good success with it for some sports, but we don't get much bball around here :( and netball just doesn't have the same  -factor.

the lighting there looked really decent. most of the gyms here aren't well lit and it's a white balance nightmare

do the fans get roudy for british basketball? Looks like you had an alright crowd...

good exposures...maybe add a little contrast...Id get a little further away on the baseline though...opens up the 85 so you can get the net in the air action, steals, drives...and fouls :)

It's a tough call as to where to sit for this hoops thing. I do agree that moving a little further down the baseline opens up the view of the basket... but I still find myself wanting to crop nice and tight in camera so I often stay quite close to the basket. I guess there's plenty of time in each game to try both spots!

I've posted some b-ball pics here - http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=55041 - some of these are from nearer the corner of the court with the 85mm.

Yeap, that's with 85 1.8, it's the basketball lens for sure.

Lighting is okay, better than the ones I shot before. Basketball isn't so popular here either, but we do have small amount of followers, however, that's nowhere near football, rugby and cricket

I suppose a bit contrast would help, but I really don't have time to go through them, apart from a little sharpening, I usually don't touch anything else, I'll leave that to the editors :p also just got booked for another 3 shoots, plus still have images from another 2 games to process!

To be honest, there is nowhere I can move to, my back was against advertising board, when I switched to the other side half time, I was sitting against the wall. Unlike massive courts in the states, here you find yourself pretty limited with where you can sit and shoot. Besides, it suits my style better, tight crop, of course, full length shots whenever I can :D

Cool shots, shame about the lack of the hoop though.
