I just watched this tutorial and it's a good basic tutorial for using textures. It doesn't require actions (just process your photo however you want before you use your texture) for those of you that don't have photoshop. (you'll just have to adjust things for your program).

Dolly Parton and Queen Elizabeth went to the Pearly Gates on the same day.
They both met with an Angel to find out if they would be admitted to Heaven.
The angel said 'Unfortunately, there's only one space in Heaven today
so I must decide which of one of you will be admitted.'
The Angel asked Dolly if there was some particular reason why she
should go to Heaven.
Dolly took off her top and said, 'Look at these, they're the most
perfect breasts God ever created and I'm sure it will please God to be
able to see them every day, for eternity.'
The Angel thanked Dolly, and asked Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth the
same question.
The Queen walked over to a toilet, pulled the lever and flushed it
without saying a word.
The Angel immediately said, 'OK, your Majesty, you may go into Heaven.'
Dolly was outraged and asked, 'What was that all about? I showed you
two of God's own perfect creations and you turned me down. She simply
flushed a commode and she got admitted to Heaven! Would you explain
that to me?'
Sorry, Dolly,' said the Angel, 'but even in Heaven, a royal flush
beats a pair - no matter how big they are.'

Hi all! Quick catch up before the kiddos get up from nap.
Yesterday was peaceful at work... the boy terror was not here... He's back today.... and we had to take the children out of the room because he deicded to throw large heavy SOLID wooden blocks...let's just say that only ONE hit me... and that was ENOUGH. I've decided I"m not picking him up any more... so we'll just clear the room.... :(
Alex is fine... was tired this morning but fine
Me... tired... but tired....and not too fond of flying blocks or screaming little boys.... but I won... he cleaned up the ENTIRE room, every toy he threw.... he cleaned them up... score one Jennifer! Oh and he tried to turn over furniture... I successfully prevented that!

Tragic news:
A teacher where my wife works was returning to the job after maternity leave. My wife had a conversation about her putting her baby in child care. My wife reassured her. The baby died of SIDS on the very first day of child care. It's scary, because it was someone my wife had considered for Christopher. :(
SIDS is extremely tragic. Our state division of Child Development that over sees the licensing of all child care centers (homes and centers) dictates how we put infants to sleep... I can only hope that your state has the same and that the center followed it. SIDS happens sadly so... My friend lost her son at 4.5 months old to SIDS at home.... Just because it happened at the center doesn't make it the center's fault.... unless they were not following safe sleep practices.... I truly hope they were.... :( Very tragic...

Oh and G'MAE!
I meant to also say thank you for all the well wishes for Alex and I. While we weren't in and out of the ER in minutes.... it was only 3 hours... not too shabby compared to MY visit to the ER earlier in the year.... Alex was a trooper and I have the pictures to prove it... will have to post those later as I am at work!

The thing about the sleep practice is that the research, which is constantly ongoing, always changes its mind. One decade "they" say don't let the baby sleep on its stomach. The next decade "they" say don't let the baby sleep on its back. That SIDS happens is bad enough, but sometimes the "experts" can make things more traumatic.

Afternoon folks.
Night Bobby... hope it feels better in the morning.
Rest well and repair Robert.
Bobert, take aleve consistently (my PT says to take it even when its not hurting as much) to keep the inflammation down. Hopefully that will help. Sleep well.
Night Bobert, hope you are much better in the morning. Thanks folks. Feel better today than what I did yesterday. I can turn to the left more now.
Uh, Jim, I need to talk to you about something I just found.
...it's about these nose prints....

Here, let me get your mind off the underwear thing.....I posted this for you yesterday.

Ahh.. I never watched Welcome Back Kotter.
Me either....it started before I was born and finished the year my wife was born and before I even knew what a sitcom was. Though, I knew of the show from when they played reruns in syndication many years later.
Hmmm kids are good for something.
Dood you so know how to party
Kids are good for that if they weigh something. Evan is 6 years old this past Monday and still only weighs about 35 lbs.
Only know how to party when I am in pain.....wish I has naproxen...that would have helped the muscle relax.
Back from the ER.... Arm is NOT broken... just a nasty knot and bruise.... He was the darling of the ER...he's too stinkin' cute sometimes! hehehehehe
Good to hear Jen!
*carefully closes top of laptop so as not to smoosh any of my friends*
But then we can't get out if you close the top.
Jamie, your title is a hoot.
Who ignores you? Certainly not I.

This is my much anticipated staggering to bed shot from the other morning. I call it Peach On A Ladder, because it is a peach, on a ladder.
You don't say. LOL!!
Nice shot Zane.
Was just checking the track of Ike when it occurred to me several of Curt's family is headed to the Dallas area. One of Curt's cousins lost his battle with cancer last weekend.
They are going to be feeling some strong affects from Ike.
Sorry to hear Becky. Hope the family is okay and stay dry from the weather.
Yah! New job! I start on tuesday!
Congrats Mike!!
Ooooh, friday joke time to lift everyone's spirits for the weekend:
'I had no idea your father was a pharmacist!!!!'

Pretty much what I'm doing now .... Writing code. It's a pretty sweet deal, a subsidiary of the company that owns the company I currently work for (last day is today) had an opening, so I took it. I keep my vacation time, my 401(k), my insurance, and other benefits. We have an awesome 401(k) plan, and incredible health insurance. So I'm quite happy!
Even better you get to keep the benefits.
Tragic news:

The baby died of SIDS on the very first day of child care. It's scary, because it was someone my wife had considered for Christopher.
Oh that is horrible Mike....That was one thing I was scared of when Evan was an infant. He never spent any time in daycare, my MIL took care of him. She pretty much watched him like a hawk and made sure he was always laying correctly on that SIDS pillow that is sold at BabiesRUs.
I just got a call from the principal, seems that young master Eli will be dining with him today as at snack time he stomped on his juice box...not sure if it was full or not. Principal said it was no big deal, he's got 3 kids and knows how it can be. ugh.
But yesterday he did have a good day and did a ll his work so perhaps he'll get there sooner or later, he's still on lockdown at home and homework has been a breeze Deb.
We are millimeters away from having the TV break for good.
Evan was the same way in his pre-pre kinder year of school, 3 years ago. He was always getting in trouble in the class and spent loads of time with the director of the facility. One day we asked him why he was always up there and he said with a straight face, "I like spending time up front with Mr. Andrew and putting papers in order."
Perhaps there is a special little girl in the class that Eli is trying to impress....you know boys act out that way to get a girls attention...the ones that like bad boys.
You must be referring to Hell Boy, the guy who is full of beans.
Yeah, he is doing great. He is nearing 3 1/2 months and is full of energy, and is actually a ton o' fun. His training is going well, he has the basics down...sit, down, stay, come and he is heeling quite well off lead now. Oh, and he knows what 'No' means, as he has definitely heard that one lots.
LOL! Hell Boy, Full of Beans....now that's a nickname.
Sounds like regular boy stuff to me....Not that I ever did anything like that, no way.
If you pump 'em full of good ethics, watch they don't get into real bad trouble, and wait it out, they will be just fine. I know my mother was pretty worried about me until my early-mid 20's.
I think evan is headed that way. He's been good in school this year with the exception of two days ago, but in the preivious years and now out in the stores or with family, that is a different story.

If Eli misbehaved in public he knows he would (maybe) live to regret it. He will pout but even that isn't looked upon well.
I wonder if he did his work today?
There is a TV commercial for Capri Sun drink pouches where a kid blows one up with his straw and stomps on it, I have no doubt in my mind that he was recreating that scene. Another reason for no more television.

Ooh, I know the state requires training for licensed care providers. This person was not licensed, but was very popular among the teachers. Like I said, My wife almost considered dropping our boy off there. There's a police investigation, because she was well over the states maximum "unlicensed" care center.
Actually one of the things the state requires is how to position an infant for sleep (back to sleep)
Anyone heard from Wu, Mike or Bobert? How are they surviving the hurricane? Or if any of them are even in the path?
I'm here. The hurricane is not ... yet. Wu, I think is a bit further north. It'll probably be TS strength when it hits here. Where in TX is Bobert?

I have a lot of not very positive things to say about commercials these days aimed at kids. Many of them seem to show kids acting horribly, as if it's a good thing to talk condescendingly to your parents, spray random strangers with juice, etc ... I know Christopher will one day take an interest in the big glittering box, but I'm certainly not going to encourage it.

Not withstanding the facts that the Ads show "diet this", "pills that" (in which 20 seconds is dedicated to saying the brand and what it does, and 40 seconds is dedicated to warn you that you will die and have serious side-effects from taking it", then another "diet pill", then after that "fill your belly with endless foods from olive garden/subway/wendys/burger king/mcdonalds etc. etc. etc." then you get the kids ads.

Last joke of the day (more next friday):
I was on a flight from Heathrow to New York, and after I settled in, I
noticed a very beautiful woman boarding the plane. I realised she was
heading straight toward my seat and bingo - she took the seat right
beside me.
'Hello', I blurted out, 'Business trip or holiday?'
She turned, smiled enchantingly and said, 'Business. I'm going to the
annual nymphomaniac convention in the United States.'
I swallowed hard. Here was the most gorgeous woman I had ever seen
sitting next to me, and she was going to a meeting for nymphomaniacs!
Struggling to maintain my composure, I calmly asked, 'What's your role
at this convention?'
'Lecturer,' she responded. 'I use my experience to dispel some of the
popular myths about sexuality.'
'Really', I smiled, 'what myths are those?'
'Well,' she explained, 'one popular myth is that African-American men
are the most well endowed when, in fact, it's the Native American
Indian who is most likely to possess that trait. Another popular myth
is that French men are the best lovers, when actually it is the men of
Greek descent. We have also found that the best potential lovers in
all categories are the Irish.'
Suddenly the woman became uncomfortable and blushed. 'I'm sorry,' she
said 'I really shouldn't be discussing this with you, I don't even
know your name!'
'Tonto,' I said. 'Tonto Papadopoulos, but my friends call me Paddy.'
I hope they are not too rude. don't want to offend anyone, but they are there to make you chuckle.

Not too perky yet Beck, doc told me it takes a while. Prunes, or juice, or something, because increasing your iron that much is going to have astronomical effects on other systems in your body. Just sayin.

That ^^^. And it changes more frequetnly than a decade. I have four children. And for each one I recieved different instructions on the 'safe' sleep position. The experts don't know ****, they base the 'safe' position on statistics. Plain and simple.
[/end of unplanned mini rant]
Not withstanding the facts that the Ads show "diet this", "pills that" (in which 20 seconds is dedicated to saying the brand and what it does, and 40 seconds is dedicated to warn you that you will die and have serious side-effects from taking it", then another "diet pill", then after that "fill your belly with endless foods from olive garden/subway/wendys/burger king/mcdonalds etc. etc. etc." then you get the kids ads.

Huh, I thought you had a work room with your own PC in it?I have a workroom, but I decided early on that I didn't want my computer in there. I do too much computer work in the evenings and I didn't want to be isolated from the family.
So as much as I don't like having a desk in the livingroom, it's a necessary evil.
My workroom has a huge table for mat cutting, and the such, and it's got all my gear, and lights, and it's kind of an office too, with papers and stuff like that.

This is true, but there is more and more research that is getting more and more refined and focused. But they've been pretty firm in their guidance for the last 10 years. After my friend's son died I did a lot of reading on SIDS... I've probably read in the neighborhood of 100 or more articles on SIDS research....
I'm glad that the state requires that, I've learned that it is becomming standard practice.... Choosing a child care provider is NEVER easy.... I visited lots of child care centers myself before deciding on Eliada.... So I know that's a tough decision.
ANY time a child dies of SIDS (at least in NC) there is ALWAYS a police investigation here. When my friend's son died, there was a police investigation of their situation. That's pretty normal...
I hate this happened to that mother...and the child care provider.... http://sc.webmessenger.msn.com/10.1.0323.0/session/images/emoticons/smile_sad.gif
She shoots! She SCORES!!
http://sc.webmessenger.msn.com/10.1.0323.0/session/images/emoticons/smile_teeth.gif I did score... today. Unfortunately the director had me give the parent 'the speech' about how if the behaviors do not improve, she may be asked to explore other options (i.e. if you don't get your kid help and he doesn't get better he may be out) I had to tell her "we are not a treatment facility and do not have the staff to deal with these kinds of repeated behaviors" We don't normally do that speech this soon.... but he's one of our most severe cases..... His mom was rather somber when she left our little meeting this afternoon.....
OK, I gotta say, you're much more patient than I am. I probably would've had that kid scared straight, standing at attention and saluting me within ten minutes. I try to be a tolerant guy, but that's just too much.
If it had been my child... his butt would've already met with my hand swiftly and firmly SEVERAL times... but since this is my job... I am required to have patience.... Let me tell you though I let him know I was unhappy with him through my facial expressions and tone of voice....

Just remembered something with that bubbles comment Cat.
In the car, Evan was chewing on some gum and out of the blue said "Daddy, I want to get a lot of gum to make gum underwear."
Kinda curious, I asked him if he would eat it and he said, "No Daddy, it would be my underwear." So, I asked him when he would take it off to take a shower, would he eat it then. Evan says, "No Daddy, it would be all sweaty!" I said, "Good....but what if you farted in the gum underwear?"
Evan said, "Then I would be inside the bubble yelling let me outta here!"

I know how hard it was to have twins though... I cannot even imagine.
You know, my one sister has 5 kids (and one due in Dec) all under 9 years old.
She had 3 in diapers at the same time, and there was once that she had two that weren't walking yet.

Indeed. I lived in SA during the apartheid years, and life was very difficult. Most people only had one pair of shoes so for the majority of the time when people were walking along the road they would have their shoes around their neck and they would only put them on when they arrived at their town or home. The other great footwear was sandals made out of car tyres.

Nice rant Neil. What is an illegal squatter township?
Under the apartheid government areas were zoned i.e White, Indian, Coloured or African. And that determined who cold live where (of course Indian, Coloured or Black people could live in white areas if they were in domestic employment and living on the white premises)
This was a camp that started on some scrubland just outside Capetown that was not authorized by the authorities and over a period of a few years it grew very big. It had several school and a health centre and the start of a proper infrastructure, and then one day.....

It is hard to get your head around the fact that this was only 20 years ago and people actually thought this was acceptable.

I've had a couple great bosses in all my years of employment. But still, I think I'd rather have yours...
I like my boss too...
I had a stare. The kids hated it. but it made them stop.
OK, I gotta say, you're much more patient than I am. I probably would've had that kid scared straight, standing at attention and saluting me within ten minutes. I try to be a tolerant guy, but that's just too much.
You would have made a good CPO...
Errr I know why you watch it (as a man to a man)...JLH just doesn't do it for me though....and seeing my wife getting into the tv show makes me less likely to watch it too..
Heather watches Ghost Whisperer too and while I try to watch it, I have trouble sometimes. I don't think I've ever forgiven David Conrad (JLH's husband in the show) for the a**h*le Navy captain he played in Men Of Honor.
Actually, any one who wants to borrow her while she's going through her terrible twos is more than welcome. :p

I'd rather not give details, but I work for an alphabet letter agency in the Fed Gov that has laws and regulations that I make sure people follow (yeah, which agency doesn't right?). If they don't follow, they can lose their means of making a living. I've been lenient with the guy cause he is old and just moved and had his stuff in storage, but given a week to perform a task is more than ample time.
Serenity now!
Okay, I'm better.

Yes I have, I had to wait till post apartheid as I had my visa revoked and was thrown out in the 80s.
It is a very changed country now, there is still a huge gap between the haves and the have nots but things are changing, the there is great social mobility, there is a long way to go, but it is amazing that the change came and came in a relatively peaceful way.
