Writing a grant for equipment

Has anyone ever attempted to write a grant for photography equipment? Perhaps for a school newspaper, nonprofit, etc? Besides writing in-house grants, what other organizations might be willing to support a worthy cause?

I wrote tons of grants for my previous full time profession, but that was for non profits now for business ventures.... Thats quite a challenge to be honest with you. Not many small business grants out there, low interest small business government loans but grants not so much. Good Luck and lets us know what you find out.
