I love it that I can see my old building in every Chicago skyline shot
Nice shot. Got a bit of blur on top of the Sears Tower though that you could probably take out

Wonderful shot . . . we don't have much in the way of 'cities' out here in the sticks, so I perhaps enjoy them more than most.

Is that taken from by the Shedd Aquarium, cm? I've heard thats a good place to get a skyline of Chicago. It wasn't too bad out there last night, was it? That full moon was beautiful. Suppose to be almost 40 outside today. Gonna melt a bunch of this snow.

thank you for the comments folks ;)
Yea, it's taken from next to the Adler Planetarium, and I think it was way colder than 40 on Sunday night. I was well wrapped, but still felt the bone penetrating chill on the lake shore...

Nice shot. And no airplane streaks. Seems like I usually get a few of those when I do a night skyline.

Awesome picture.
Might I ask as to what software you used to stitch the photos together and how you managed to get such a nice gradient with the color of the sky?
I've tried to stitch a few panoramics with the Canon software and Photoshop Elements, but there is a pronounced 'seam' where the photos are stitched because of the difference in the color of the sky from shot to shot.

I actually used photoshop for the "stitch"
The gradient in the sky is because of mother nature :). The sun had set towards the left of the picture, so there was more light in that direction while less in the other.
my exposure were quite long, so there was a sligh difference in light from one shot to another (small though), but easily corrected with levels. Either way, you need to make sure you shoot in manual mode, have the same white balance etc...

I suppose I should have worded my question more carefully... :o I understand how you got the gradient, but I'm wondering, rather, how it came together so well when the photos were joined.
I've got what could be a nice panoramic stitched together, but the seams are very pronounced because of the change in color of the sky from one shot to the next. And I shot each picture in manual with the same settings for each.
Did they just come together that well for you or did you have to touch it up any, other than adjusting the levels? ;)

Terrific shot! Frame and hang. :) :) :) It would be nice if you could resize it so we could see it all without scrolling. ;)

spin, slight levels adjustments is all I did. If you had the same settings... only other thing that could throw you off is white balance. If you shot RAW, adjust the same white balance to all the pieces.
Basically, the only difference that I had to fix was the difference in light between the exposures. It was before nightfall, so even though my exposures were somewhere around 6 seconds, the light visibly changed.
Jim, Thanks for the comment.
