Hi,

I'm not sure this is where I should post this or not? If Not would someone please move it for me?

I got my Digital SLR not long ago, and I realized VERY quickly that I needed a Laptop. I have saved just under $700 and I amstarting to look at all of my options now. I don't know a whole lot about laptops and I would like some advice. I know the Basics, like you want as much RAM and the largest Hard drive that you can afford. But beyond that I don't know a whole lot. I am thinking that I wil get one with an AMD processor, unless you don't think that is a good move. I will be running the software that came with the camera (Canon Photo Pro) and I will probably get something simple and cheap like Adobe PhotoShop Elements, eventualy. I will be shooting both Raw and some Large JPEG.
What I would like to know is,(1) What Laptop you recomend for me,and (2) Why you recomend that one.
Thanks

For photo editing, a desktop computer is the best solution.

Laptops are emergency solutions for field work.

Lenovo brought out a laptop with a screen that is supposed to be able to show more colors than usual laptop screens, but it would blow your budget.

Also, laptops are a pain to edit on, ergonomically.

For photo editing I'd recommend you to look at a refurbished iMac, purchased from Apple with one year warranty. You should get a decent Core 2 Duo machine for your budget, and it will blow the laptop out of the water and to the stars in image quality.

If you absolutely have to have a laptop for professional reasons, then you need to spend more, or you'll be very, very disappointed.
