Ok so to tomorrow is going to be a rather large fireworks display to celebrate Australia day. I don't normally go but all my mates are going and it beats sitting on the couch.

I haven't done much night time photography and I know my Powershot S1 IS doesn't handle low light conditions very well.

Does anyone out there have any ideas on what settings I should be trying under these conditions?
I will be shooting the fireworks and the crowds.
I don't think I will be taking my tripod but my IS works a treat.
I don't have any extra lenses yet.

Any advice will be most appreciated. :)

Cheers

I don't think I will be taking my tripod... You'll need to shoot between 1-4 sec, ISO 100 @ f/11-16. Do a search. It was covered within the last 2 months.

Thanks Photosguy.

I didn't even think of doing a search
Now would be a bad time to tell you that I work in IT Support

Haha! Trust me & take the tripod... or you'll wish you had! ;-)

Try the forum search with the keyworkd 'fireworks'.

A *lot* of information will pop up, like this thread: http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=12908&highlight=fireworks

The issue was discussed in great detail last year, around ... July 3

Best regards,
Andy
