Last one is the best out of this for me..great colors, sharp, and the texture is fabulous.

Thanks, there was a fence around it and I couldn't get as close as I wanted for most shots. I like the last one too, it is one of my favorites.

I like the last one too, very nice. Which one of your lenses did you use?

DarrylM

All were shot raw with the 75-300 IS lens.

was this all in LB? Exxon just had their open house this past weekend.

This sort of stuff fascinates me - how something like an oil refinery can end up just.. abandoned.

stuff gets old as they were built back in the 30-40s.. valves go bad. Better to rebuild from scratch and leave it behind than have a major explosion.

Sure, stuff only has a certain life. I mean that I find it weird big plants like this are just abandoned instead of stripped for recyclable materials and redeveloped or sold.

Ahhh I c what you mean Adam, yea it is quite odd that they just leave it there.. lol.. it's nice that they do so we can take photos of them =) otherwise it's a flat land.. but who knows. Maybe it's a front for something that's going on underground?

It was pretty quiet around there. I would have loved to get inside, but I doubt it was very safe. No sign of them tearing it down, that I could see.

DarryIM... I love this place. Been inside several times, once at night and 3 times during the day. No one in site. Found this place exploring Long Beach as always. I'm glad you found this beautiful plant. Amazing shots. I'll post some of the shots from the insideside right now. Peace! Oh, if you ever want to get in...let me know. I live in long beach.

Hope you didn't mind me adding these images to your thread. These are just a few shots from the inside. Taken on 400D with kit lens. A few of them were recent and taken from Tamron 17-50mm. Some are HDR and some are only touched in Light room for contrast. Let me know if you ever want to get in. Peace!

Hey, the last one is cool, but the others just look like point and shoot shots. Maybe you could try something wtih colours HDR or infrared like I have seen a few people do before with this type of thing.

Take a look at streetsilence's excellent shots on this page for examples!

Not at all, love your shots. That is exactly why I wanted to get inside. It was hard to get good shots from outside the fence (without getting the fence in the shot).
I was across the street for some of the shots.

Well thanks for letting me share. I know how it is trying to get shots form the outside. It's harder to get exactly what you want. The first couple of times in there, the gate was open and there were a few cars parked inside. I managed to not be seen and shot for like 4 hours. The second time I brought by good friend and shooting partner and we had a blast. That's when we were able to create more. It's hard being there by yourself. I bit paranoid. But after we shot there I went back by myself a few more times. It's really hard to find a piece of treasure like this. I still feel I need more time to capture the rest of the place and this time I'll bring some lighting.

Anyways, thanks for the compliments. I highly appreciate them. Hope you hit me up when your ready to get in. Just send me a private message and we"ll link up. I'm telling you it's a ghost town. No one will know. Peace and Keep Creating!

I know funny huh! But you really get a chance to see the artist different styles. Me and fiveFPS went by there on Tuesday afternoon. I can't wait to see what he has captured. Had no problem getting in. Spent a couple hours shooting. It was nice to meet you brotha. We'll shoot soon....Definitely.

Let's see more from this location. Peace and Keep Creating!

That's funny, glad you liked that one. That glove looks like it's been working over-time. Had to capture that. Thanks for the compliment brotha. Let me know when you want to go back. Would be nice to get a few others to explore with us and see what we come up with. Peace!
