View Full Version : Oh No!I broke my 580EX II Flash!What can I do?

Camara dropped with flash attached and this is what happend:mad::

Fell on my carpet so I cant see if theres any other parts missing.I dont think so though.Looks like a little stick with a spring and the hot shoe looks like it cracked:(.Any one know what I can do or how to fix this?I'm not to crazy about soldering if I can avoid that.Or if anyone lives in the So Cal area and can direct me to where I can get this repaired.How Much $?Thanks.

At least in Sweden I know about people who have bought the plastic piece that's broken and fixed problems like this themselves.
But I don't know whom to contact in the US.

You can buy the foot or you can send it to Canon for surgery.

I'd sent it Michael Bass and have him do the upgrade at the same time.

Sorry about your flash, but it should be relatively cheap to repair.

There were some people who were worried that the new metal shoe on the 580EX II might cause the camera to be damaged before the flash.

It's good to see that there is still a fail point that protects the camera.
