there is a long long pier jutting out to the sea in dun laoghaire harbour
( which is outside the city of dublin) and yesterday there was construction work being done to the path leading to a lighthouse at the end of the pier.
new massive pipes were being laid underground to bring electricy to the lighthouse , among other things
in this shot where the lighthouse is perched looks a little like the titanic's last 'stand'
but the photograper standing there is safe enough and on level ground.

this is part of the view at a distance... walking back from the lighthouse

and these girls were strolling along the pier .
I loved the look of the hat on the girl on the right

when she was passing she really had a gorgeous smile

Great shots Marie, So electricity to the lighthouse! guess the won't have to light the candle with a match anymore.   The photo of the girls is cute. I notice that the girl on the left has the typical cell phone attached to the ear. Maybe that's what the girl is hidding under that hat.

ha ha ha ha Sandy
the hat was good for a photo.
there was a strong cold breeze against a body when walking the other way
the hat's 'tail' would have been in a much different position with the wind like so
so I got lucky http://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif
the breeze was on their backs
ps
I hate those phoneshttp://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_evil.gif

thank you Steve.
it won't be everyone's cup of tea
that's ok too.
I love lighthouses at any time
but they sometimes can look ordinary when they are really very special

thank you Jim
#2 looks better as a bigger picture
but there is no in between on pbase
the large are very large and the small are too small
bad news is if I take a shot lengthways it can be very large
but lengthways is sometimes the best way regards composition when taking a particular shot
I rather some shots shown fairly large to show some detail better
( I mean the contents )

Marie; I just had a thought. I bet the girl with the hat has an extra long cell phone antenna in the tail of her hat so she can call all over the world.   You should see them in this country driving down the road (very scary) speed dailing and talk in the cells non stop. In the stores same thing yak yak yak, I once saw a husband and wife in a large grocery store, she in the deli section he around the corner at the meat dept. talking to each other on there cell phones, on what the other should buy.

my sister in law has a kettle which makes a bit of noise when boiling
( it's not a whistling kettle)http://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_lol.gif
her son works late into the night (and later) and sleeps on in the mornings.
one morning she got a phone call in the kitchen
it was her son on his mobile from the bedroom which is down a short corridor ( it's a bungalow)
and he snapped at her ' will you switch that &*%%" kettle off ma '
