This may be a dumb question, but is it possible to open RAW images from the 20D in Photoshop CS now? If I recall, it wasn't possible when the camera first came out, but I don't know if this has been dealt with yet.

Thanks,
Tim

Yes, there is a download on Adobe's site that will allow you to open/process RAW images from the 20D

Anyone want to buy a D60?!?

Thanks for the info.

Last week I recieved PSCS from Adobe. The latest verision they are shipping will open and process the 20 D raw files without any extra downloads.

But can you burn the CR2 or DNG file to a CD or DVD. I am trying to archive some work and XP won’t let me transfer the files to my DVD burner. It does not seem to recognize the flle extension or format. Any thoughts?

You can burn any files you want to a CD or DVD, but it sounds like you are trying to create a photo CD instead of just a data CD/DVD.

It must be me. :o When I go into explorer and drag a file over to the DVD drive it pops up a warning stating that “windows encountered a problem while trying to copy this file” . OK so, perhaps its that it does not want to copy to the DVD, so I put a CD in (I have burned both CD’s and DVD’s in the past) and it worked. No error message! I pt the cd in the pc to view my work…. and it appears blank.

I am confused by what you want to do -- if you want to create a data disk as an archive of your raw files, use your CD/DVD burner software to create a data disk. It's simple.

If you want to SEE the pictures on your CD/DVD, you need to create a photoCD, which can't be done currently with RAW files. They need to be converted to jpg first. It sounds as if you are trying to do this, and not simply archiving the data files.

So I would say, that to the best of my knowledge, what you want to do isn't possible currently.

Unless I have misunderstood what you are trying to do, which is possible.

I don't use the drag- and drop facility to create cds or dvds. I tried it once without RTFM (as I always do... ;) ) and it took too long to figure out if it worked or not and you can't see what windows is doing.
I prefer using NERO, at least you see what you're doing...

IMO if you have to RTFM for trivial things, like using an OS, it's not well done...
