I need to get a CPL filter 77mm for my 24-70L and would like a good one.
So what do you recommend?
B&W, Hoya or other?
and what model? looks like they all have a few different model with big difference in price.
I'm not rich, but would like one that dose a great job.
here's a list from B&H (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=search&A=search&Q=&sb=bs%2Cupper(ds)&sq=asc&sortDrop=Brand%3A+A+to+Z&ac=&bsi=&bhs=t&shs=&ci=115&at=Size_77mm&at=Brand_B%2BW&at=Brand_Hoya&at=Type_Circular&advancedSubmit=Submit+Query). or if you know a better place with better price, drop a link.
thanks

Try this link: -

I'm UK, I ordered Monday arrived Saturday. Excellent price (Well, for the UK).
I have read on here that they may take a little longer to deliver in the US for some reason.

If you're not in a super rush to get one, get it from Hvstar out of Hong Kong...it'll take about a week to arrive, but you'll save a bit of money. Try this one for your lens:
B+W 77mmKasemann MRC CPL (http://hvstar.net/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=36)
Hvstar's prices have gone up a little bit (not sure if its because of the exchange rate which is getting better, or because their sales have gone way up). Either way, they still have the best prices on B+W filters. The non-Kaesemann version of this filter is only about $10 less, so for the money you're better off with the linked version. However, whichever filter you buy, make sure that its the multi-coated version, designated with 'MRC'. The one's that you see for $70 are not MRC. If you want a good filter, you'll have to spend a bit more...

B+W MRC/MC, Hoya S-HMC/DMC or Heliopan SH-PMC for brand/lines

Hoya, B+W are the better brands.
When purchasing filters make sure they are multi-coated. Usually designated MC or HMC.

cool, so it needs to be MCR, and what is the difference between the Kasemann and the other one, and the slim one (http://hvstar.net/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=35).
the reason I ask is because the one in your link is out of stuck and I would like to get one by next week.
and should I get one of those (http://hvstar.net/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=33) to keep on my lens all the time?

I second this one.
And another vote.
try 2filters.com as well. Great prices -- take it to your cart to see the best deal.

Yes it needs to be the Multi Coated Resistant (MRC) one.
The Kaesemann has edges that are sealed to both last longer and hold up in very high humidity environments.
Dont bother with the slim one, you will not need it for any 77mm lens.
I have a UV Haze filter (same one that you linked to) on all my lenses at all times EXCEPT when Im using the CPL. Never stack filters. It is debatable however as to whether or not a UV haze filter is a good thing.

If you want it by next week do not order from hvstar. Mine took 2 weeks from the order to arrive here in SD. I'm not complaining about it, it is just how it works when ordering from Hong Kong and you need to be aware of that.
Order from www.2filter.com if you want it by next week. They are a little higher priced, but ship immediately and still cheaper than the usual places.
My vote is for the Hoya Pro-1, unless money is truly no issue. I have one and it is great. I can't bring myself to spend double on something that isn't going to markedly improve my images. I'll personally take a chance at having to buy a new one in 10 years.

what about this one (http://hvstar.net/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=16&strVarSel=&strCompare=) with one of those (http://hvstar.net/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=22)

Nope. Do some searching around here, youll find that that topic has been well tested and beaten to death. The 10-22 will not vignette with a standard F-Pro B+W CPL.

If you really think you need a UV filter as well, I'd get this kit:
http://hvstar.net/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=687
Again though, I am fairly certain you will not get your order by next weekend if you order from hvstar.

Here is basically the same set from 2filter.com, just a little higher priced and none of the extra stuff. Ships from US and they get it out fast.

I just don't want to leave my lens without a glass to protect it. I have a sunpak on now, and I think it sucks. And I don't have to have it by next week, I just don't want to wait till the Kaesemann become available, witch we don't know how long this will take. 2 weeks is not that bad.
thanks for the link.
