Can't we adapt something similar to the Formula 1 rulebooks and put a freeze on development for a while? I'm all for the advancement in DSLR's, but I mean c'mon now....
I hope the sensors overheat. :p

It only makes sense. With the Live View functionality, the data stream is already being moved around inside the camera so there is no big jump to recording it. So now we'll get more videos on flickr with killer awesome bokeh blur, no big deal. As long as it is just a feature, like Live View, I'll probably never use and not a dual focus of the camera, I don't care.

You say this now, until it haunts your dreams with night terrors of leaving the camera on video mode. :p

Just think about this for a second...
Say in 5 years when you can get 200GB UDMA cards that can write 500MB/sec and the camera can support the speed you will have DSLR's without shutters, you will simply be shooting video and when you press the shutter it'll save whatever fps you set it at, and it could save the previous couple of seconds along with it.
Think about what that would mean to a sports photographer.
Also think about how much money it costs to have the bokeh of 35mm in cinematography, I've seen a $16,000 35mm adaptor. With say 12mp at 24 or 30 FPS you would have a serious video camera in a DSLR. Audio would never be up to par, but a lot of people shoot audio seperate anyway.
This is huge, like huge huge.

Isn't photography a wonderful thing as we are spoiled by choices??
The other option is only one make camera with one lens.. I'd rather have a choice..

Heck, you'll be able to pick up a RED ONE for $17,500 here shortly, and throw your L lens on that.
What a bargain!

You can buy a Canon 200mm f/2.8 for $670, or a Canon 200mm f/2 for $5300.
The same principle applies to 35mm converters, you get what you pay for.

really?
i suggest sir that you look into the redrock system, as it is blowing the big guys out the water, and the converter costs about $1,000 dollars and you can get a entire set up for under $6,000
