I need to quote a price for a full day shooting or maybe two for a motorcycle magazine.
This involves a three to four hour drive to a track with the possibibity of a hotel.
I already contaced the person who takes care of the finanial part and they came back with a how much do you need......
So what is a fair price, I have shot 3 other shoots with the same mag, to start with I let them set the payment. Which was too low of course.

For your time I would charge between $800-$1200 day rate (which is pretty normal) and then all expenses which includes milage, food, hotels, equipment rentals if needed, etc.
Then you have the usage fees on top of that which are normally set by a magazine. So if they give you $100 for a full page then you get that on top of your day rate and expenses.
So if it takes you two days with travel, you should get $1600-$2400 plus expenses and the usage fees.

Also make sure you retain all rights to your images, otherwise figure would go up by another 0

Thanks for the info, one question out of that.
If I retain all rights, that means that if they want to use them again, then they pay me again. It does not mean I can sell them to some one else, right?

In most cases, yes, but it also depends on the agreement between photographer and client. If agreed period of time expires and client doesn't show any interests in renewing it, I suppose you can carry on selling them to third parties.
