They say you can never go back, but I decided to go back to the woods, and check out what was happening in the Hare Scrambles scene. I used to do this in both Canada and the USA back in the mid 80's and its a different form of racing then MX, thats for sure.

The races last between 2-3 hours, the laps are anywhere from 5-30 minutes long. The terrain is varied, from open fields, two track, single track, parts of an MX track, you name it, its part of the obstacles to overcome to win a race.

The fellow in the second image and I grew up as neighbours and riding buddies and one season we dominated the Pro level of this form of racing, and he is still racing the Vet Expert class, whereas, I am smart enough to hide behind a camera lens....I think?

Looks like fun! Also looks like a cake walk compared to what we have out here! It's more of a skills competition.

This isn't showing difficulty as much as how lazy I was and not wanting to ride too far with about 5 grand of camera gear on my back.

I personally think the races out here are losing the "race" part, and becoming more of the "last man standing". Sad, because both are fun, but you can't expect all skill levels to ride similar stuff.

Awesome pics! I really want to get into MX/HS/GNCC photography. I would normally be riding but due to surgery I have to take a year off. So I can only hope(dream) of capturing photo's of this quality.
