Hi all,
Ive been doing photography for a couple of years now. Never knew it would become something I really love. I started with disposables, then to a basic point and shoot and upgraded and upgraded over the years.
I am now at the point where I would like to learn how to manipulate my digital pics. My girlfriend purchased CS3 for work and I know we have photoshop but I have ZERO idea how to use it.
Im just wondering if any of you can tell me how to even begin using it? Should I work with on pic, or try to learn the whole program? Should I buy a magazine? A book? Search online? It seems like such an intimidating program that Ive been postponing my learning of it for over 12 months now.
How should i get started on my photoshop learning?
Thanks a million
Jonathan

For photo editing, you won't need to learn the entire program, I don't know if there will be a point in any situation where one would need to know it entirely. Start by just fiddling with the tools of the software, you could get a book, however I think there are enough tutorials online that would suffice.

Step 1: Go to the post-processing forum.
Step 2: Look at the tacked threads at the top of the forum.
I have zero skill with photoshop but I just downloaded the 30-day eval copies of CS3 and Lightroom and I'm on my way back to that forum to start reading. See you there.

Anybody have any suggestions for websites that offer these tutorials.
I went through the stickies of the 'photo processing' forum but it seems quite specific. I just wanna try some VERY basic things.
Ill try to google some free tutorials for now I guess.

Check out youtube.com. Lots of quick photoshop tutorials.
Scott Kelby's books are also a great help.
Don't get frustrated if expertise doesn't come quickly. Photoshop is a perfect bear to learn. Nothing in life prepares you for it. It's like being plunked into a foreign country and having to learn the language and culture from scratch.

Check out Scott Kelby's books.
Adobe Photoshop Classroom in a book CS3 is a good starter also.
