Did Ian set that shot up for you? Which lens did you use? Those are really excellent.

Ian was back in Canada looking after my cat. You know I have to wonder after the elk thing what really happened when I wasn't home.http://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_rolleyes.gifhttp://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_rolleyes.gif

The second shot is beautiful. The first is hilarious. Makes you wonder what he's looking at.

The first shot is great, but I do see influences of Ian. Perhaps you should stay in Dallas for a while...

Nice shots of the sandhill crane, Sheldon.
BTW, is that his nostril or did someone shoot it with a 22 caliber gun? That sure is a big hole in his bill.

*Notice of Patient Infringement*
Dear Mr. Ssim,
Please be advised that our client wishs to advise you that photograph #1 in the above series (damn nice BTW) is in direct conflict with his WWPOAP (World Wide Patient Of Arse Photography) as registered sometime ago. Bearing in mind the skill necessary to accomplish this style of image, we think you were just lucky this one time. However, the fool...err client, wishes to inform you that payment consisting of First Born Male Child or Big Honkin Canon Prime Telephoto lens will make him forget what you have posted on the most esteemed photographic site.
Yours Truly,

For all you naturalists out there, the question is:
Is that a Greater Sandhill Crane, or a Lesser Sandhill Crane. The only difference is in size, and you can't tell that from one photo of one bird.

If this was shot out in the wild, chances are that it would be the Lesser Sandhill crane since they are the most common, especially all the way down south in Texas.
However, since this are in a wildlife preserve as opposed to being in the wild, I bet that this fellow is, in fact, the Greater Sandhill crane. :D
Another thing that clued me to this fact is that I checked out the Fossil Rim wildlife park website and it says it right there. :p
