Things to do and shoot in Memphis, TN

I am going to Memphis, TN (USA) this weekend and will have approximately one day to do some sightseeing and do photography. Any suggestions on places to see, things to do, places to eat at, nightlife hangouts. Most likely will be free all day Monday Jan. 31.

I've already planned on visiting Graceland and Beale Street. I am in the monument business (monuments as in headstones you put in cemetaries). Do you guys know of any famous cemetaries that are worth making a trip out to?

The Civil Rights Museum and the Lorraine Hotel are a must see. It is really neat the way they built the Museum 'around' the original hotel and balcony where Dr. King was assassinated.

Memphis is home to some of the best barbeque and ribs in the world. Some good barbeque restaurants: Rendezvous; Corky's; Leonards (buffet). Another good restaurant: Folk's Folly (steaks).

Civil Rights Museum is good. Mud Island can be interesting if you want to walk the entire length of the Mississippi. Rhodes College is very pretty and picturesque. Of course there is the river, which might make for some pretty sunset pictures near the bridges.

Rendezvous, yes, or Interstate BBQ. Corky's is garbage, imho. You can get it at the airport on the way out if you really want to try it.

Beale St. is pretty much "the nightlife" so you've got that covered. Rendezvous is close by, or you can go to Automatic Slim's Tonga Club or the Rum Boogie Cafe for some food and fun. Rendezvous is also near the Peabody Hotel where you can catch a ride in a horse-drawn carriage, or go inside and see the ducks.

For upscale eating nothing beats the game at Erling Jensen's, but make an appointment now!

Take a tour of Sun Records if they still do that - it's where Elvis got started. I guess Graceland is something you have to do ... but it's pretty tacky.

Oh, and cemetaries? Go to Elmwood. Here's the site with some sample photographs:

Worth a visit is Forest Hill Cemetery, you can drive through and view the mausoleum that Elvis was first buried in before his body was moved to Graceland.

Pay a visit to the famous Peabody Hotel which is a short walk from Beale Street, see the famous ducks!

If you want to get a tourist free shot of the front of Graceland, wait until you've finished the tour and waiting for the return bus, you'll have a couple of minutes in between buses where there are no tourists in front of the house, quickly nip out and take a few snaps - here's one my wife took for me, she was under pressure as a incoming bus was only seconds away!

PS. I know this is a bit cheeky pradeep1 but if you do visit Forest Hill Cemetery and manage to take any photos of the mausoleum I was wondering you'd take a shot for me? When I visited I came across the cemetery by accident and I didn't have my camera with me, I'd love a picture of it.
