Hey, just found out about this and wanted to share. If you don't already know, the included software won't allow video to be uploaded to the camera, only images. There's a way around this though...upload atleast 1 image to the camera via the included software. Then put your memory card into a separate reader and transfer both your .avi file and matching .THM file to the DCIM folder on the card. You can then playback the video on the camera.
I talked w/ Canon tech support and he said the camera's not designed to have video uploaded to it...atleast not through their software.

Is there a way to create movies from "scatch" with the correct specs and upload those movie clips?
Have you tried to do it?
For example, I'm trying to upload a 15fps 320x240 MJPEG clip (just a few seconds long) to my Powershot S70. The clip just shows up as an "Unidentified Image" in the display. I've even been able to create my own ".THM" image for a thumb, but that doesn't help.
If you haven't tried to create a clip from scratch could you try this and let me know if you get it to work? That would be swell!
Thanks,
Dan

Yes! Canon digital camera is also good movie player.
I have created a sample movie clip (30fps 320x240 MJPEG) which can be playbacked on my Canon Ixus40 camera. I think it should run well on other model of Powershot/Ixus.
Here is the files:

Download and unzip MVI_9999.ZIP and extract the files (MVI_9999.AVI and MVI_9999.THM) into the SD card directory \DCIM\100CANON. Have a nice try...
