There are plenty of rumors lastly ...

.... and one of those is that Leica was considering rebranding Canon DSLRs.

Canon senior executives at Peking Press Conference held during this week have spoken about the 50 Mpx sensor (already exists since one year ago ...) but they said that it would be necesary "other complements" : new body, format & lenses ... perhaps ??? (between lines).

Could be this rumor also oriented in that way ??

Rebrand? I highly doubt it. They have completely different design lines and philosophies. I would however find it plausible for Canon to supply Leica with sensors.

Weren't the Leica R series of SLRs (or at least some of them) based on Minolta bodies? An R mount Canon would be cool :D

The 4/3 line (D-Series) of Leica is going to be stoped - no further bodies from Leica, this is what other rumors say.

And it makes huge sense.

Also I doubt that a Canon DSLR with Leica mount will be coming, it would definitely be possible and actually the best long term decision for Leica in DSLR photography. So they could actually concentrate on what they can best - lens design :cool:

fantastic in theory, i was looking at getting an R system and when i saw the prics on lenses i said no way, makes canon l lenses look fleemarket priced. if i can swing it though id get a used r9 and a fitty. :D

Would work well. General purpose lenses from Canon. L Lenses from Canon. Super expensive lenses from Leica.

I'd love to see Canon make a more compact body, maybe badged Leica :)
