I just got my drebel and I love it. After playing around with it for a while, I began to wonder if it was better to set the center autofocus point or to use the automatic AF point selection. Does the automatic AF point selection work well most of the time or should I select the center one?
Thanks.

Normally I have it set at the center focus point.
Occasionally I'll set it at one of the others for ETTL flash purposes.
That's about it for me.

I use center point 99% of the time, I occasionally shift to one of the other points if I want to use autofocus and frame the focus point way off centre.

I always have it set to center focus point. Iknow what its doing then and don't have to remember to reset anything.

I set it on the center 90% and offset when needed, I think this speeds up focusing too.

My main problem with using all the focus points is mistakenly focusing on something in front of my subject, putting the subject out of focus. My method now is to lock focus using the center, then re-compose the shot. I would say try it (all focus points) and see if it works for you...

Thanks everyone for your help. In the manual it says that if you chose the center point it autofocuses quicker. Plus I don't want to ruin a chance shot by the camera choosing the wrong point. I think I will stick mostly to the center autofocus point.
Thanks again.
