Is this a common lens? I've never seen anything quite like it... but I know that Vivitar isn't really high end stuff.

I take it this is a 300mm lens? Is it M42 mount? Maybe I should see about adding it to my collection (not for $75 though).

Some Vivitar stuff 'ain't bad' Their lenses are made by third parties, so sometimes figureing out what you have is tough. Their more modern "series 1" stuff is nothing to sneeze at.

I suspect that is, instead of M42, probably a T2 mount. T2 is also 42mm, but a properly threaded M42, and a T2 mount, will NOT interchange -- the threads are just a little different.

The seller states "ALPA Tele-kilar" f5.6 30cm - this lens was made to fit
Alpa slr cameras, probably late 50s/early 60s vintage. Alpa made very high quality, somewhat eccentric and expensive bodies with an odd front-to
back film wind lever. I believe they still make some specialized cameras.
