izzy35,
Sure but I need more info...
What camera and what software do you have?
PS. I suggest you put your equipment in your signature, it helps us to answer your questions.
Just use the software that comes with your camera, DPP (Digital Photo Pro) is what comes with most Canon models.
Just click File then convert and save and a new window will pop up where you can choose where to save it to etc... I suggest you change the file name this will keep the original in case you want to print it later!
In the middle there is Image Quality, this is the compression used on the file, 7 is good for internet. The lower the number the smaller the file will be, however too much compression is noticeable try different settings to see.
Then on the bottom click the box next to resize and just type in the size you want the photo to be ex. 800 x 533 px
This should help your photos be better for internet viewing
Hope that helps :)

Check the Image Posting FAQ linked in my sig. If you're hosting with SmugMug, Flickr, PhotoBucket, etc., there's a thread tellling how to use them for best results. There's another one on resizing images yourself, and several other useful topics as well.
