iPhoto 4 is annoying and will not capture RAW files....which is a huge problem.
What is the best/most common app for handling/downloading RAW files?

You can use the canon file viewer utility, or if you got a d20 it should have come with digital photo pro, or you can spring 80 bucks for the new ilife 05, which has a raw file capability. I have the first two, but was wanting to try the new iphoto in ilife 05. I don't know much about it, but some other people are discussing it on another thread here. Good luck.

The easiest most basic way is image capture...it is already on your mac in the utilities folder. As said, the new version of ilife also handles RAW. If you want a more robust (costly) piece of software, portfolio also handles RAW

I can't seem to find the image capture in my utilities folder. That would have been simpler.

If you work with Photoshop CS should be able to do raw as well, also I think PhaseOne has a mac version of CaptureOne which I always use for my raw conversion. If you mean to get the raw off the card -drag and drop. But even then you still need a utility to convert the raw into a jpeg, if you are not processing your raw and you are just doing simple conversion, you may wana just stick with shooting jpeg.

I just use a card reader and copy the images from the card to my hard disk using Finder.

It's in the Application folder but I'm wondering if it will work with RAW files.

If you just got the Mac, and IPhoto 4.0 (part of ILife) is installed, you are entitled to a free upgrade to ILife 5.0 (containing IPhoto 5.0). IPhoto 5.0 does handle RAW files.

The program is free, they are charging for shipping and handling. I know, it's ridiculous pricing for shipping and handling.
I did call our local Apple store, and they told me that all of the computers that they are selling, have ILife 5 installed on them.
