The next slew of new Canon cameras and lenses will be announced Monday, August 25, 2008. Tune in then for the announcement and to prove my oracle-like abilities.

Why...they didnt with the II to IIn..why would they now, they had an issue and worked pretty hard to get it fixed. They might have not fixed every camera out there but it seems there are alot of happy users

I just had a thought, Canon just announced a camera below the XSi, a surprise to everyone. The 40D is not due for an upgrade for another 6 months so I do not see a 50D, however…..
Maybe it’s time Canon surprises us once again and puts out a crop body between the 40D and MkIII. Call it the 45D. It will have the 12mp 1.6 sensor, body style of the 40D, improved LCD, but the AF and exposure from the MkIII.

If this is of any help whatsoever, I was at our local high end, caters to the serious photographers/professionals camera store and they said the new 5D would be announced the end of August sometime. I don't know their source but they seemed very confident in this pronouncement.

I think the Hoff could be right because of ... recent Nikon timing relative to Canon. The announcement of the 1Ds Mk III was quickly followed by the announcement of the D3 / D300 by Nikon. Nikon has a press event scheduled for August 27th - a new D90 with a new kit lens, a few other lenses, and an updated D3 (but not the D3x high res) are expected.

Of course, that pattern of Nikon scheduling releases right after Canon isn't anything like a real pattern or we'd have seen a 5D Mk II the last week of June before the D700 launch. But as the rumor page has shown time and again, a lack of hard data is no match for wishful thinking.

Hoff - was that photo with the dogs part of a calendar? That's the sort of thing that could get a visit from HR if hung up. It's amazing that anyone out there conceptualized that shot and thought "this is a good idea".

BTW, the G10 was confirmed by Popphoto's website but the page has now been taken down!

I saw it last night, and from what I recall, there was:

ISO dial moved to a ring around the main function dial.
Exposure comp dial added to where the ISO dial was.
1600 mode and some new version of the 3200 mode.
14.7mp
Face detection now recognizes profiles.
RAW editing in DPP.

That's all I can remember.

My cousin has a roommate and his uncle was at a dealer's meeting in Hawaii. At that meeting they got drunk and let it slip that the next 5D replacement will start the trend of a mostly functional wireless flash controller built into the body. It won't fully replace the need for an external controller (better AF assist) but you will be able to go wireless without any additional pieces.

I'm not going to get into a child discapline argument with you, but I have 2 girls. Into sports, band, and more. They have everything they have ever asked for, dirt bikes, quads, even a track in my backyard.

They are also the most well behaved and mature kids you will ever meet. The teachers are amazed at my children's behavior.

I can count on 1 hand how many times I have hit them. I would of done the same thing to my kids if I had found out that they were sneaking around in MY room, where they have no business being. Except, I would of had a list of chores for them to do and a few rocks.

I can count on 1 hand how many times I have hit them. I would of done the same thing to my kids if I had found out that they were sneaking around in MY room, where they have no business being. Except, I would of had a list of chores for them to do and a few rocks.

I do have kids. I don't believe in beating and they are well adjusted adults expecting children of their own. Please. :rolleyes: NEVER will I say regardless of what is acceptable in society that cruelty is okay.

When I was a kid, my parents gave me a puppy for Christmas. They let me play with it for a couple hours, then they killed it, cooked it, and we ate it.

I've always been traumatized by that. I still have trouble whenever I'm served roast puppy.

Let's not get too overworked about this subject, folks. It probably would have helped to know the eventual outcome before watching the video. If you think about it, it really isn't too different from the BB Gun scene in A Christmas Story.

In your eyes, its cruel, in mine it was a lesson learned. My wife is a psychologist for a woman's prison here in Washington state, I work as corrections officer for men.

90% these people have one thing in common, their parents did not give a rats butt about them. I love how people try and raise other people kids, then their kids are on the news and they say 'not my kid, he's a good boy" :lol:

I look forward to seeing them behind bars. Raise your kid, I'll raise mine, we will see how they turn out.
