Took this photo a few weeks ago at Eindhoven Air Base (the Netherlands).
Because the Dutch Air Force doesnīt have big cargo planes (...biggest is the Hercules), they hire these big boys for our troops in Afghanistan.
Always impressive to see aircraft this big....sorry for the typical Dutch weather which makes it all a bit dark...

Without going into the fine details, the An-124 is very comparable to the Galaxy. It is a similar size. The An-124 has a wingspan of 73.3 m (240 ft 5 in) and a length of 68.96 m (226 ft 3 in). The An-124 is shows up at Canadain Forces Base Trenton ocassionally as the Canadian government also rents them.

The An-124 has a big brother the An-225 Mriya - wingspan 88.40 m (290 ft 2 in) and length 84 m (275.6 ft). The An-225 has six engines. The An-225 also drops in to Trenton from time to time. I saw it once and tried to get some pictures; but photography around military bases is somewhat limited.

By the way Martien nice shot.

Yep, the Antonov 124 really looks like a Galaxy...except for the T-tail the Galaxy has.

...the day after this 124 we also had the 225 but I did not want to show you this photo ...it is just too bad....

Weather sucked and they would not let me get closer to it (loading some sneaky stuff there)..so I had to take it from this angle.
So Ken, I have to agree about taking photos around military bases...

This photo is not because I think it is a great shot...it is just to illustrate what the 124īs big brother looks like.

The Antonov 225. This UR-82060 is the only one still flying.
The bumps on his back are the mountings of the Buran (Russian "Space shuttle-look a like")
