How to buy a battery grip

Some people buy camera gear off their fellow POTNetters, sort of keeps it in the family. I recently bought a battery grip, BG-E2, off this site, but he wanted $14 postage. He lived about 250km away.

I have a friend who is recovering from a melanoma skin cancer who has not ridden his new bike much, so it was on the bikes for a run to save the $14 in postage!

Met at my place, time for a quick photo then had to rip thru the Royal National Park before dodging all the tintops(car drivers) in Sydney. Running a bit late, but the freeway north of Sydney is so boring we took in a section of old road, twisty and mighty fun!

Finally arrived, did the transaction, banged the battery grip on with fresh batteries...sweet! Time to wander home via the coast.

First stop caves beach for a postcard style image, then out to the old coal loader at Catherine Hill Bay, where, if you look closely you can see the environmental effects of the industry with one of the local sea gulls flying by covered in coal dust:lol:

Then had to take a picture of my mate with his bike too!

then a quick as we can run home after refreshments at Catherine Hill Bay Pub, to try and beat the peak hour traffic in the City.

All up we spent about $100 on fuel, drinks and snacks between us, travelling over 500km but I cant think of a better way of saving $14 postage!

Yes, just had the 40D and the 17-40L with a cpl on her snuggled in the tank bag. No tripod, flash units etc!

Funny; here in the states they call 'em cagers cause they drive like they are invincible in their little cages with wheels.

Thanks guys, some get their jollies tracking their parcels in the mail by sitting in front of a computer, i think my way is better. Now all I need is to get a really good deal on camera gear in the US or Europe and pick it up the same way.. imagine the postage I could save!:lol::lol::lol:

Coalcliff huh?? I'm from Shellharbour but now live and work in Laos.. I sold my Triumph Sprint RS 955i before we moved in July last year..

If you see a Lucifer Orange RS (rare model) in your travels with a YOG.10 plate say g'day from me..

This thread needs to be moves to a "Share section", &sorry, but in the "Share" areas IMAGE POSTING RULES (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=74718) only allow 2 attachments by the OP per thread. (Maximum 1024 pixels on any side.) You can always just post a link to them, though, or better yet, post a link to a gallery so we don't have to click on each image link.
Some exceptions are "Show Me...", "Post your best...", equipment reviews, Tutorials, etc.

I'm thinking of a very large, very rare Canon telephoto prime lens which makes me think this is a viable option. ;) It's a pity none are for sale at the moment...
