I have been playing with my 380EX on my 20D (yes I know, its a bit underpowered, but its what I had from my EOS300 (Rebel 2k) kit).

I am surprised at just how much better my flash shots - especially bounced flash - come out when used with the 20D rather than the EOS300. I did a bunch of shots with bounce flash with the EOS300 and my only thought was "what's the big deal - it doesn't look that great".

Now I know what the big deal was :)

yea, the 20d has much better flash metering than you 300.

Call me old fashioned but I have an old Braun hammer head that has seen many years use and still gives me the results that I want. Sure you have to think a bit about what you are doing, but is that bad,. I have a 300D and a hotshoe flash adapter and set it up in manual and get cracking shots every (well most) times. I'm very reluctant to part with it as it has seen me through a lot of difficult times. Guess I'm just sentimental.:D
