I really like this one, combining silhouette & sunset, no special tricks was involved, i think this was just at the right moment Taken with Canon PSA200, no Photoshop editing.

Great shot...its really very beautiful, I like the composition..the combination of the silhouette and the clouds is excellent.
May I know the specs for the picture, any filters, and wide angle lens deployed.
Cheers,

Thanks a lot! I didn't use anything except the camera, like I said I'm a beginner in this, so I just let the auto focus do the job :) It's ISO 50 i think.. no added lens or stuff like that.
Here's the edited version of it, I just edited a bit in Photoshop.

Hey Guy:
I have to fly, chop some eggs and bake paper dough. BUT ...
1: Sure this is a good photo. Its MESSAGE "anyone who wants a good shot with a camera:
- has to know his/her "stuff"
- be there when the concert starts (light, event)
- and shoot (maybe every 5 minutes, and keep the . best) "
2: Sometimes perfect colors abound (as in your post) -- see also Eland's electric blue and red Aussie sunset.
3: Your 1st post of the side of that building is good for starters. Like.. who could do more with that material ? Let the lines meet the bottom corners of the image? Even so, color, texture, form and a specific point of interest are really not there.
So what?
Well, judging from the graphics on your website these shots only scratch the surface of your available eneray and talent.
************************
BACK TO THE M*E*S*S*A*G*E
************************
The message is:
- academic studies first
- digital camera second
- then look at other shots
- and study the Kodak site
- take some time to decide where your interests lie .. Sunsets? Sides of bulidings ? or Night time Rock Concerts?
When you feel the vibes, shoot. You are going to be a tough act to follow.
See Yah

Thanks for the critiques Leighow!
To be honest, I don't understand your no.1 answer, why is it talking about concerts? :)
I couldn't find those 2 photos now, I'll look deeper later.
Yes, let the lines meet of course! That's a very good idea! I was reluctant about editing my pictures cause i thought since this is photography forum, all of you would be 'purist' guys, who don't do any 'post production' for your pics, only the technique conducted at the shooting time. But after reading a lot of people's post I think they don't mind if I edit my pics in Photoshop to look more stunning. Hmm... but Photoshop editing has a limit right? What about things like blur fx?
Conclusion: Thanks for your compliment, next time i'll edit my pics first in PS before posting :)

a): KNOW YOUR STUFF:
******************
You can always get lucky, or like the "A Day in the life of Country X Photographers", you can always have the locals plan to bring you around to all the photo ops. But for the average person, you have to know your camera, and your own surroundings inside out. By season. By the sun's angle. Etc. Etc. Once that is done, you will find that your sunsets will pop up all over the place. Then your real question will become; "What it is that I want to compose in this moment in time".
b) When the concert starts
*********************
When you know your stuff, you will not just be relying on luck. You will make things happen. You will be the concert master -- having planned for the sun's arrival or departure, for the concert spots to turn blue and the drums to fluoresce, or for the blue heron to sit on its nest, or for the deer to sip morning water at the pond.
c) Shoot maybe every 5 minutes and keep the best
*****************************************
The sun moves, the shadows change, the hand shakes, the view finder shifts, the zoom zooms, and the ISO and E-comp can be altered at will. Each change will alter the tone, texture, frame, and content of your image.
Hey. Time for me to quiet down. In fact, I should be asking you, the artist, how you achieve all of your great graphics (I can smell the eggs).
For my part, I was never able to lay down two artistic strokes with a painter's brush. The G2 is my passport to enter into your world of visual art.

Thanks Howie,
Those are all really good advice. Thanks for the tip! Sounds like you know your photography stuff inside out :) I'll pay attention more to the 'right timing' when it comes to sunset, mine was pure luck i think.
And the things about concert is interesting as well, I'm a musician, but I never took concert pics before, but yeah those concert lightings are really awesome if we can capture them at the right moment. And do more experimentation on the ISO next time, gotcha.
Hey, thanks for visiting my site, and checking out my artwork! :) I bought digicam actually to make my own stock photos for graphic design purposes, that's why all this time i wasn't concentrating on beauty or color, cause i know i can achieve that in photoshop, and I feel that my Canon PSA200 doesn't capable of doing all those nifty 'manual' stuff you photographers are doing. If you're asking how do i achieve my graphics... of course it's photoshop magic, i don't know how to answer that question more. :) unless you're asking something more specific.
Wish i could get a G2 someday.....
