Not sure if you're trying to imitate dave hill or anything, but i think the hard contrast went a bit overboard, and i'm not sure if it's just me, but it seems like you used a different sky, *i.e. photoshopped it in from a stock photo or something* as the resolution's different as well as the noise in the sky. good attempt but i'd consider toning down a bit of the contrast and u'll have a much better photo...
oh and also, take it easy with the people's faces, it looks like they're all michael jacksons with insane bleached skin

Hey Austin
Keep in mind that 'art' is so damn subjective.
I personally like the look of this and did the other shot you posted as well.
It's got a different look/feel to it. I think what matters most is do YOU like it?
YOU are the one who is going to see it on the program cover all the time. And if you like it, that's really all that matters.
I don't care how many changes you make to it, if/when you post it on here, you will find plenty that will not care for it. Big Deal.
Count me in as one of your fans that thinks it would make a great cover.
Good job. :-)

I like what you've done with the players and the stadium, but the sky doesn't fit. The clouds look like they were taken from a bad scan or something. It's very noisy and doesn't fit with the rest of the image.

I like the intent. Looks like you were going for a 300 or dragon effect to give the intent of dominance or a storm, etc. If you post an unprocessed version we could take a stab at it as well. I like the pose my only thing is the players and coach seem washed out and the clouds done seem intimidating enough.

First post, but gotta put the first one somewhere. I'm more a graphic artist who uses photography, than a photographer who uses pp, so I may look at this differently than others may here. I like the harsh look you've given the players, but not real keen on how the sky/stadium looks in relation. I'd probably try a few different things, (86 the light-my eye is pulled to it away from the main subject, some toning, different look to the sky...) then compare to see if I liked the changes. But that's just me.
As someone above mentioned, art is seen differently through every eye which falls upon it. Go with what looks good to you and your clients.

Yep, in such a doctored photo it almost looks as if the light was put there on purpose to distract me.

Sorry, it's too much PP for me. Why not go with a nice shot of the guys and stadium and leave off the PP?

I like it but #5 should have been wearing black shoes. I keep going straight to the white running shoes and it just doesn't fit the theme, nice shot though.

Much better but what is the weird series of lines going over #72's arm? Looks like something you forgot to erase?..

Still too much PP, not a fan of the glow around the players (also the faces/hair look washed out), looks like a almost like a hdr shot. The actual photo is good, just not a fan of the editing.

Tone it down a bit.... The haloes are distracting and they are a bit overexposed.

I've figured out what the problem is. Many web browsers have different color profiles they display with. i.e. it looks fine in Safari, but not in Firefox. Save it to your desktop then open in photoshop. Then you'll see a world of difference.
Oh, and by the way, we printed out a proof today and the school absolutely loved it.

the haloing, loss of details in the blown highlights and the sky kinda make this an eye-sore to me. It almost hurts my eyes to look at it because of the brightness and all of the players and whatnot.

Hey austincabot...
Don't look here for approval as its been said here ART is purely subjective!
I've learned this the hard way believe me! Go with what you like...PERIOD...
Its nice to seek opinions and that's all you should take it as no more and no less!
You're the man and your client is the one you need to please!
keep it all in perspective and take all comments forever with a grain of salt...
Follow your heart man!
I'm not into this type od editing at all, but after looking at the image for about 15-20 seconds...I can dig it and what you are doing with it!
I give you a SOLID thumbs-up....But like I said that's just my opinion!
You gotta stand by yours whatever it may be cause that's all that really matters in the scheme of things!
Go for it!...If you are SOLID with it!
Good on you and good art and good vision!
Make your own mold and don't fall into the perils of not pursueing your talent and VISION:D

I'm telling you guys - he's right. Your browser may support a different colorspace than what the cover is in. Save it to your desktop and open it up in photoshop. Worlds of difference. ;)

Tried, no improvement. Perhaps you can link to the original .psd? Even when I save it, it still looks washed out. Sorry :(

IF you do something 'artsy'...and You like the result...best not post on here for all the subjective opinions!
