Do you think the 5Dmk2 will have the same AF performance as the 40D? or better?

Then , it will be the perfect choice: IQ+speed!

Any idea if the 5Dmk2 will have a EF-s mount?

Pretty much impossible... the EF-S mount lenses protrude too far into the mirror box.

No point of discussing since it might be possible that this maybe added like the Nikon auto crop mode. Speculation is fair enough but to start comparing cameras even before they are released is just going to cause false hope

I think if canon keeps the same 9points system in any of these new cameras they are going to be shooting themself in the foot. I say its fine for the rebels to have the 9point but any of the xxD and xD should have a much better and more focus points. lets face it ALOT of people make a big deal how many points..since the D300/D700 all have the same 51points in theirs as the pro body people will sway towards that..canon needs to up the game here a bit

Ahh, yes. I did a lil' bit of research on them, but I wasn't sure.

I was just wondering due to investing in EF-S lenses, as I have a 450D at the moment, but i can see my see in the future upgrading to a full frame DSLR.

Current camera involved in a versus thread with a camera that doesn't exist.

Here's one for you:

Chuck Norris vs The Loch Ness Monster.

Which one has better AF performance?

It'll have worse performance and we'll see months and months of angry threads on POTN about it! ;)

I have owned both cameras for 3 years and let me tell you the 5dmkII blows my 40d out of the water....

I would like it if the 5dmkII has few or none of the features of the 40d. If it did I would feel like I am paying "$1500" for a larger sensor....

Well, I have a 40D and a 5D and guess which one I prefer most of the time.....

....Yes, the 5D. If the Mk II is an improvement, then I don't see any reason not to choose it.

yep .... but 5D is x2 the price of 40D , and the mkii will be even higher,
plus the expense of another 500$ to replace my tamron to canon 17-40L ,
it will be very expensive....
you say 5d blows the 40d , in what way? is the price justified?

the 5DMkII had better have better AF and focus points than the 40D, because it will be going up against the nikon D700, which has a pro-AF system.

canon is getting their arses spanked in prosumer and lower-pro bodies, and it's time that our camp save a little face and market share by putting features into their camera bodies again.

nikon hasn't crippled their cameras - even the D300 has a pro AF-system and wireless flash control - canon should take a hint.
