Hey guys,

I just sold a lens to someone on eBay that I got with my 40D. Part of the deal was they get the warranty card. This was not part of the deal, but I was hoping to give the buyer a copy of the original sales receipt that I received for the body/lens. Does anyone see a problem with doing so? Will it give me problems down the road if my 40D needs repair? If you didnt have a problem with sending the buyer a copy of the receipt, would you black out anything on said recipt or add anything to it (copy, resale, etc)? Just trying to help a fellow enthusiast out (who also greased my pocket ).

Thanks!
Bill

Give the buyer the warranty card - it's actually not an essential anyway. You need to keep your receipt in case you need to make a warranty claim on the gear you are keeping. It might be nice to give the buyer a copy of the receipt, but most camera gear warranties don't transfer to the new owner anyway.

If your credit card details are on the receipt in full then I'd definitely block that information out, but only on the copy, not the original.

so whats the deal.....warranties are non-transferable? Thats not right! When I sold my last car, I was able to transfer the warranty......if this is the case (that its non-transferrable, thats BS)...
