So there I was bored...

I decided to update the cost to buy all current Canon lenses. using BH prices - USA warranty.

The total (not counting 1200mm (estimated at 90,000), but including extenders and tubes since they are on the lens list from Canon) is:
US $66,367
The .95 on everything was rounded up, so you can probably knock about $3 off given there are 66 lenses on the list. Also, I did not include rebates and import prices; which would further save you money. And adding to your cost would be shipping and handling. I also have a sneaking suspicion that if I ordered them all at one time I could also reduce costs.

Now if I win the lottery soon, it would run me $57,497+1200mm to get the remaining lens set (minus EF-s ($1540 for all 3) which would not work on any of my current 3 cameras). And I still have $4425 left on my intend to buy list. One note though I also have 28-70L which has been replaced by the 24-70L and based on everything I see no reason to replace, but if getting everything I would get, so it is on the total left list.

just thought I would share the results of my boredom.

Now imagine You live in Denmark and want to buy the same stuff. It would then cost You somewhere around $160.000

Hm. Something to ponder. :) I think if I won the lottery, I'd only get the L lenses though.

Jokeingly I say that if you deleted the non "L" lenses from the list it would only save you 50 cents.

Seriously, The cost for all non-L lenses is a pitance compared to getting all the "L" lenses, I think you can get them all for less then the cost of the 600mm

And then I because I would have nothing better to do I could actually run tests just to see for myself how much difference there is between lenses.

Now would I really do that, maybe... depends on what mood I was at the time.

Plus, if you buy the entire family of lenses all at once, they will probably give you a $30 rebate certificate, or something.

Oh, be still, my heart!

I'd stop dreaming about the 300-800 after buying this list....

I'm still surprised that it's only $66,000. I have to talk to the wife...
