I use Epson 2100 on my WinXP sytem. I am now getting to grips with Gretag Macbeth calibration thingy for my printer.

When I print the test chart in preparation for calibrating my monitor I am not clear how to turn off colour management settings in the print driver. I think I go Preferences>Custom>Advaned then the button for "No Color Adjustment." (duh) After that I don't know what to do about "Media Type," "Print Quality" (in dpi), "speed," "finest detail" and "edge smoothing."

A related question is what to do about media type. WIth for example, a Kodak glossy paper (Kodak Premium Picture Paper) it recommends using the Plain Paper option in my Epson printer. This then restricts the Print Quality in the advanced settings window to 720dpi whilst a glossy setting would up that to 2880 dpi. What do I do with these when printing the test sheet and do I have to remember this every time I use the resulting printer profile?

Many thanks for your help.

I don't have this product although I do use the Gregtag Macbeth monitor profile software and hardware.

No one has answered your question - so here's my best guess:

You want to create a specific profile for each type of print media and printer driver settings. Thus I would set the printer driver options as you would normally when printing your photos for a specific type of media. The only important difference is to disable printer color management since that's what you'll be doing once your print using you new ICC printer profile. You should end up with several ICC profiles covering your different print media and printer settings.
